Asserting that the government would not tolerate any negligence in transporting bio waste generated by hospitals, forest and environment minister Jogu Ramanna has said the government would bring in GPS tracking system to monitor the bio waste transportation.
The minister held a review meeting with senior officials of forest department and pollution control board here on Saturday. He ordered them to slap cases against hospitals which do not adhere to the norms in transporting bio waste.
Instructing them to intensify inspections on hospitals to check for non-compliance, he said special teams would be constituted with officials belonging to environment, health and medical departments.  He said the hospitals would be categorised into geographical locations, which would be linked up with the treatment plant for easy transportation of bio waste.
